Country Maid, Inc. Reaches 20-Year Milestone

Country Maid, Inc. celebrated their 20-year milestone on Friday, August 19th with an open house, back to school supply drive, production tours and grill-out.

Around 400 people came to show their support and helped celebrate this milestone. Country Maid, Inc. is very appreciative of their employees, dealers, partners, vendors, lenders and the surrounding communities for their continued support.

Through our mission statement of “Helping Others, Help Themselves,” a total of 780 school supply items were donated. These items were divided up and given to surrounding schools.

From a farmhouse basement to a newly constructed production and office facility, Country Maid makes yet another move to accommodate steady growth in its nearly 20 years of business in frozen food manufacturing and small business development.

The community of West Bend has always held a special spot in the hearts of those within Country Maid. The new building further demonstrates the company’s commitment to remain an active and long-term part of the community.

The project broke ground in October 2009. The rough Iowa winter caused timelines to slow; however, progress continued as the new 26,000 sq ft. production facility took shape. Country Maid, Inc. the July Winner of the Renew Rural Iowa Award

Country Maid, owner of the Butter Braid® brand and strong contender in the fundraising industry, wins the July Iowa Farm Bureau Renew Rural Iowa Entrepreneur award for its sound business model and commitment to the communities they serve.

What started 21 years ago as a pastry-making project to help a West Bend, Iowa couple with six children make it through the Farm Crisis has now grown into a successful manufacturing and service company with approximately 80 independent dealerships in 44 states. All of the dealerships are dedicated to employee ownership, creative marketing approaches and a strong commitment to keeping rural Iowa vital. Country Maid now has 61 employees in the West Bend area and many more in their other dealerships.

In 1991, when Ken Banwart, Country Maid, Inc. co-founder and CEO was deciding what his company would stand for, it was his innate desire to help others that would overwhelmingly decide what kind of company Country Maid would ultimately be.

Country Maid co-founders Ken Banwart and wife Marlene had a strong desire to help others, whether it be employees or individuals in the community, so it only made sense that that is what the company would strive for.
